Guasave, Sinaloa.- It was on June 21, 2016 when the heart of Maria del Rosario Valdez Campos, better known as Chayito Valdez, she stopped beating in the city of San Diego, California, where she spent her last years bedridden due to a cerebral hemorrhage, leaving sequelae that led her to a vegetative state for more than 13 years.
A news that not only impacted her loyal followers in Guasave and all of Sinaloa, but in many parts of Mexico and the United States, since her voice was unique, managing to break borders and making it clear that women also dominated regional Mexican music.
Several days after her death, the remains of the native of Orba, Bamoa, were transferred to the city of Guasave, where thousands of fans were waiting for her to give her the last goodbye, as a queen deserved: with flowers and mariachi.
It was at the Francisco Carranza Limón baseball stadium, where the interpreter of ‘Besos y Copas’ was honored, this being the last wish of the artist.
The coffin was placed on stage, where attendees could see the face of the woman who reached the pinnacle of success thanks to the talent and dedication she injected into her musical career.
The Sanctuary of Our Lady of the Rosary was the venue for the singer’s mass, where Public Security had to intervene, before the crowd that gathered to say goodbye to the interpreter of ‘La Silla Vacía’.
