The jury of the contest selected two candidates to advance to the final according to the categories covered by the award: absolute female, absolute male and girl, after the three semi-finals that were held this month in Cangas del Narcea, La Pola and La Felguera.
The selected ones are Lorena Corripio and Alicia Villanueva, in the female stay; Sergio Menéndez and Carlos Velasco, for men, and Néstor Díaz and Marina Carbajosa, for girls.
The final will be held on Friday, November 29, at a gala at the Teatru de la Laboral in Xixón, at 7 p.m., with free admission.
The Ministry of Culture, Language Policy and Sports allocates a sum of 15,000 euros to this award, distributed in 6,000 for the male stay, 6,000 for the female and 3,000 for the girl.
This initiative aims to promote and disseminate the Asturian song, declared Asset of Cultural Interest (BIC), of intangible quality in 2015.
Culture chose the figure of Obdulia Álvarez Díaz, better known as ‘ala Busdonga’, to name this Asturian music competition in order to vindicate the career of a woman who in the first half of the 20th century imposed herself on the stereotypes of the He dominated and stood out for his musical talent.
