Aquaculture farmers, farmers, women from processing plants in the states of Sinaloa, Baja California Sonora, Nayarit, Veracruz, Tamaulipas and Colima They arrived in Mexico City to express their disagreement with the entry of Ecuadorian shrimp.
In an interview for Debate, Michel Padilla, producer and manager of the Ahome Producers Associationreported that yesterday (Tuesday) they went to the offices of the National Customs Agency of Mexicowhere they received a committee of eight people, where they only gave them bad news.
“The protection we had for stop shrimp importshas been suspended, they open borders and for this reason we showed up in the morning (Wednesday) at the Government Palace, before the morning, but they did not receive us,” he shared.
According to Michel Padilla, this forced them to go in contingents to the Ministry of the Interior. He indicated that a committee of eleven producers was received and is meeting within the secretariat.
These eleven producers are aquaculture farmers, offshore bay fishermen, representing everyone in the country. “We are waiting for them to leave the meeting, to see what they tell us,” he reported.
Since yesterday it was warned that aquaculturists would take over the Secretary of the Interior, Senasica and the National Customs Agency of Mexico.
