Mexico. The Mexican Leonel García, member of the Sin Bandera duet with the Argentine Noel Schajris, asked to feel “great indignation all the time” at the wave of violence against women in Mexico, as the alleged femicide still unsolved of the young Debanhi Escobar.
“It is unacceptable, unheard of. We have to feel great indignation all the time and that indignation is not only verbal, but that we begin to act. That those who are in charge of the laws modify them and those who are in charge of the execution of the law apply it”, Garcia responded at a press conference.
The issue arose after it was revealed that the 18-year-old girl, whose body appeared on April 21 in a motel after missing for two weeks, was fired at her funeral with the song “Let life reach me” by Sin Bandera, which shocked the musicians, who sent a message of solidarity to the family.
Noel and Leonel, who are celebrating the twentieth anniversary of their first album “Sin Bandera”, expressed the pain they feel when they see that the world is not a safe place for women.
“I am the father of a daughter and I want her to live in a world where she is respected and valued,” Schajris said.
Although they never stopped touring, the last album by the friends García and Schajris together was made in 2006, Later both dedicated themselves to pursuing their dreams individually with their careers as soloists and from time to time they coincided musically.
“These years of being apart making our own music, which have been very beautiful and of many learnings, helped us to say, ‘I think that Sin Bandera at this time would be very interesting’, and I had that curiosity to think, what will happen if we sat down to compose ten songs again? What is going to happen, what is going to be born? and we felt an emotion like when we were going to make the first album, “Garcia said.
After spending a lot of time together, catching up with each other’s musical tune and new experiences, “Frecuencia” was born. an album that is shown as the sum of learning in so many years of separation.
“Naturally the themes came out. In ‘Nadie’ we use humor, but spitefully, it’s a suburban bolero, depending on what we wanted to talk about, the genre ended up coming out. ‘Another attempt’ is more rock because it’s a song of pain and anger, or ‘Directo a ti’ is more funk, like The Weekend, we get carried away by the feeling that guides the song, ”he added.
