The Italian skier Matilde Lorenzi died this Tuesday after failing to overcome the injuries suffered in an accident on Monday while she was training on a slope in the Val Senales resort, in the Italian Alps. The 19-year-old skier was taken to the hospital in the city of Bolzano, where they could not save her life.
In the accident, the young promise of alpine skiing lost control of one of his skis and in the fall he hit his head on the icy surface of the Grawand G1 slope.

Lorenzi was part of the Italian army, with which he specialized in speed tests. Last season she had stood out by winning the Italian absolute ski championship, she had been the Italian junior Super-G champion and she had obtained good positions in the Junior Downhill and Super-G World Championships, as well as an 11th place in the European Cup.
The Italian Ministry of Defense has confirmed the death this morning of this “promise of national skiing” skier and has conveyed its condolences to her loved ones.
Lorenzi, a native of Turin, would have turned 20 on November 15.
