Azzurra's story moved everyone: what happened
The city of Oderzo mourns the passing of Azzurra Carnelos, a courageous young mother who lost her battle with breast cancer on Saturday night. At just 33 years old, Azzurra left behind an 8-month-old son, Antonio, to whom she gave life despite the illness she was trying to defeat.
Discovers the cancerous nodule in 2019 thanks to a dream in which she sees her grandmother Nori, who died from the same illness, who urges her to have specialist visits. The dream projection turns out to be prescient and Azzurra immediately begins treatment. In 2022 she gets married Franciswith which she graduated with honors in 2015, and the following year she gave birth to Antonio, despite the fear that the chemotherapy treatments she had undergone in the past could compromise her ability to conceive.
The return of the illness during gestation did not stop Azzurra: with great courage she decided to carry on pregnancy, giving birth to little Antonio prematurely in order to be able to start treatment immediately. Fighting against one aggressive form of cancer, Azzurra faced every challenge with a smile on her lips, always thinking of the good of her little one.
Family and friends remember Azzurra as an extraordinary person, full of kindness and determination. Her husband Francesco describes her as a great mother and a great wife, capable of facing everything with courage and love for her family.
The family has decided to donate the donations collected to the Neonatology department of Ca' Foncello in Treviso, where Anthony was treated with dedication and professionalism. A tangible demonstration of the affection and gratitude of her husband Francesco, her father Fabrizio, her mother Antonella and her brothers Andrea and Davide.
Oderzo and the whole community are rallying around the family of Azzurra “mother courage” in this moment of ache and emotion, remembering with affection an extraordinary young woman who left a sign of love in every heart she touched.
