Last January, the Egyptian parliament approved an amendment to the law to increase the penalty for bullying against people with special needs.
The draft law included one article other than the publication article, and aims to increase the penalty for bullying for people with special needs, up to 5 years in prison. And a maximum of 100,000 pounds, or one of the two penalties.
Sama Rami took advantage of this amendment to protect herself, and extracted a ruling.
Sama Ramy told Sky News Arabia: “I was bullied when someone entered my Facebook page and bullied me and my friends and described us with inappropriate words that mock people of determination, so I tried to communicate with this person to understand with him, and prevent him from his behavior. He refused to accept any understanding with me, and made inappropriate words in which he once again mocked people of determination, and then I told him that what he had done was a crime punishable by imprisonment, he replied that he was able to imprison me and that I would not be able to do anything to prevent him from bullying.
Move and file a report with the Attorney General
And Sama continued, saying: “When I realized the impossibility of understanding with him, I recorded a video of the Attorney General and told him, “Do not make fun of a people, perhaps they will be better than them,” and I asked him to intervene to punish this person and protect us from him. To follow up on the matter, I submitted a report to protect myself and all my friends, and here the Egyptian authorities moved and arrested him within two days, and within two months, he was sentenced to three years in prison and a fine of 100,000 pounds was imposed on him.
Sama Ramy continued her speech by saying: “After this incident, I participated in the ‘Able to Differ’ celebration for people of determination and people with special needs, which was attended by President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, and recounted the bullying I was subjected to to the President of the Republic, who took the initiative to apologize to me and everyone who was bullied, which is what It made me very happy to meet him and his position with me.”
Sama has changed the curriculum
