“I want a tomb to pray on for my wife”: the pain of Guerrina Piscaglia’s husband, 10 years after her death
10 years after the passing of Guerrina Piscaglia, the body of the then 49-year-old, for whose murder the former parish priest of Ca’ Raffaello, Gratien Alabi, ended up in prison, has not yet been found. Today the woman’s husband, interviewed by Corriere della Seraspoke of his desire to have a tomb on which to pray and reiterates his desire for justice, which according to him, to date, has not yet been complete.
It was the May 1st 2014 when Guerrina Piscaglia, a 49-year-old woman from Badia Tedalda, a very small municipality in the province of Arezzo, disappeared into thin air. That was the last day her family saw her. Then, no more news, phone calls or traces of her.
The investigations focused on Gratien Alabiknown by all to Ca’ Raffaello like Father Graziano. Apparently there was a secret relationship between him and his disappearance and he was immediately accused of being responsible for his kidnapping first, and then for his murder and concealment of his body.
The former parish priest initially denied the relationship, only to later confess it, but instead always declared himself innocent regarding the sad end that was first hypothesized and then confirmed for Guerrina. In the first instance Alabi was sentenced to 27 years in prison, which then dropped to 25 years old on appeal and confirmed by the Court of Cassation. He is currently locked up in Opera prison in Milan.
Last May 1st marked the tenth anniversary of the disappearance of Guerrina and her husband, Mirko Alessandrinogave an interview to Corriere della Sera returning to talk about the episode that changed his life forever.
The pain of Guerrina Piscaglia’s husband
To date, as mentioned body of Guerrina it has not yet been found and Mirko expressed the desire to one day have a grave on which to pray for his wife. He then talked about the civil trial which is still ongoing to achieve justice.
According to the man, he and his family are owed a compensation of over one million euros which should burden not only the direct manager, but also the institution. Here are his words:
Father Graziano had had a morbid relationship with Guerrina for some time. A strange love, because he constantly frequented prostitutes. The religious leaders knew what his nature was. We asked for damages from the murderer, as directly responsible. And at the same time we sued the diocese of Arezzo-Cortona Sansepolcro and the Order of the Premonstratensian Fathers in Rome, because they were the ones who commissioned that priest and entrusted him with a liturgical function. Therefore, as the jurisprudence states, if the crime was committed in the exercise of the functions, the institution also pays. It also happened with violence against minors. The person responsible and the institution to which he belonged compensated the victims.
