The politician who only thinks of himself. He has a selfish view. He does not care about forming a political current. He does not promote his collaborators, and if he does, it is to use them. He thinks that he should always be at the head of the pack. That for having given them employment on some occasion, his subordinates must always follow him. He does not support that those who were his collaborators do well on their own merits. Unless they reach higher positions than he had.
The professional politician. He is the one who leads politics by vocation or by necessity. He manages to survive the adverse circumstances. He knows that politics is unfair and that you don’t always get there. Maybe never. He is hurt that politics is sometimes generous with those who have not tried so hard. He is always living on memories and what he could have been. He knows the rules of politics and respects them. He knows how to adapt to new circumstances. It is difficult for him to have another profession or activity. He is the most criticized, because he only lives from politics.
The business politician. He always denies being a politician. He views politics with disdain. He is arrogant. He thinks he is better than the professional politician. He has two favorite phrases: “I don’t live from politics” and “I don’t come to steal because I don’t need to.” But reality usually shows otherwise, because he discovers the pleasure of handling other people’s money at will. He believes that government can be run like a business. The businessman politician ends up resembling the politicians he criticizes so much. And he almost never manages to be better than them.
The circumstantial politician. He arrived unintentionally, due to the circumstances of politics. He won an election without even moving. They voted for him, because they didn’t want to vote for the others. But he thinks that he arrived on his merits and pride invades him. He is complaining, because he has not been through the swamps of politics. Everything hurts and annoys him. He has no patience. He is arrogant because he exaggerates his merits. He ends up being a bird of passage in politics. As he arrived, he leaves.
The wandering politician. He says that politics is in the street, where he goes to listen to the people. She says. He prefers the “supervision” tours of works, or the inaugurations, where the greatest effort consists of cutting a ribbon with scissors in hand. Or wave a flag. The truth is that he likes comfortable settings. The public to mode, applause and good places to eat. Also batons. He runs away from offices and work meetings, because there are only problems there. And there is no money that he can afford to fix them. Better the tours, then.
The bully politician. Conceives politics as a lawsuit. Like a ring without ideas or solutions. He likes to offend his rivals, make fun of them, show them off. Discover the mud of politics and the human condition. He ends up making a show out of politics. More if they celebrate his occurrences. He generally has thin skin. He is intolerant of criticism.
The politician who sees politics as a business. Its priority is public works, mainly large projects. No further explanation is needed. That is where he focuses his government plans. This is not usually a politician with ideals or great speeches. So that.
