The Civil Guard of the Region of Murcia has carried out investigations in Archena and Águilas, initiated to clarify several crimes of robbery with violence and intimidation committed in the urban areas of both municipalities, which has resulted in the identification, location and arrest of seven young people, who are alleged to have been responsible for the crime of robbery with violence and intimidation.
The Benemérita Citizen Security Prevention officers in charge of the investigations, who have had the collaboration of the local police of the respective municipalities, have clarified, so far, a dozen crimes, five in Archena and another five in Águilas, although investigations are still open, so it is not ruled out that these figures may increase.
The Águilas investigation began shortly after the end of the 2024 Carnival celebration in the coastal municipality, when the Civil Guard detected an increase in robberies committed with violence and intimidation against pedestrians in the urban area of the municipality.
The investigations carried out revealed that behind the criminal acts investigated there was, allegedly, a group of young people who approached the victims, attacked them and stole their belongings, events that generated some social alarm in the town.
The Civil Guard, in collaboration with the Águilas Local Police, opened the corresponding investigation to clarify the facts and which led to the identification of a group of young people, some with criminal records and among whom are minors, who have been located and detained as alleged perpetrators of the crime of robbery with violence and intimidation, who have been attributed, so far, the authorship of five criminal acts.
Robberies in the urban area of Archena
At the same time, the Civil Guard opened another investigation last March in Archena, when the commission of several crimes of robbery with violence was detected, in this case by the jerk procedure, events that had also generated social alarm among the residents of the area. municipality.
The events took place repeatedly in different streets of the archenero urban area, where a young man followed the victims, generally elderly women, from whom, using force, he snatched their purse with all their belongings and fled the scene.
Thanks to citizen collaboration and coordination with the Archena Local Police, the Benemérita Citizen Security Prevention officers identified a young man, resident in the municipality, who was allegedly responsible for the criminal acts investigated.
Once all the necessary evidence was obtained, the Civil Guard has located and arrested the suspect, as the alleged perpetrator of the crime of robbery with violence and intimidation.
The investigators have so far clarified five crimes of robbery with violence and intimidation committed by the now detained man, although the open investigation continues, since his involvement in more criminal acts is not ruled out.
Among the victims of both investigations are vulnerable people, such as the elderly or disabled, who were injured after the robberies were committed.
During the development of the investigations, the Civil Guard has had citizen collaboration and fluid coordination with the local police of both municipalities.
