The Ministry of Public Education (SEP) has announced the official calendar for the 2024-2025 school yearproviding important details about school days, long weekends and rest days for basic education students in Mexico.
This information is crucial for parents, teachers and students to plan their activities during the next academic year, for example, the long-awaited vacation that everyone wants to enjoy.

Taking into account that the The school year will begin on Monday, August 26, 2024and will extend until Wednesday, July 16, 2025, that is, 190 days of classes for kindergarten, primary and secondary students, How many days off will there be in the 2024-2025 school year?
Rest days in the 2024-2025 school year
One of the highlights of the calendar are the school long weekends, which offer additional rest periods throughout the school year. The SEP has scheduled several bridges during the 2024-2025 school yearbeginning with the commemoration of the Anniversary of the Independence of Mexico, from Saturday, September 14 to Monday, September 16.
The bridges will continue throughout the year, marked by days dedicated to School Technical Councils and the commemoration of important historical events in Mexico, such as the Anniversary of the Mexican Revolution and the birth of Benito Juárez.
In addition to the bridges, the SEP has designated a holiday that does not fall on a weekend and that does not constitute a long weekend. On Thursday, May 15, 2025, classes will be suspended to commemorate Teacher’s Day, a recognition of the work of educators in Mexico.

- January 31 to February 3, for the School Technical Council and for the Anniversary of the promulgation of the 1917 Constitution.
- February 28 to March 2, by School Technical Council.
- March 15 to 17, for the birth of Benito Juárez.
- March 28 to 30, by School Technical Council.
- May 1 to 6, for the Anniversaries of Labor Day, the Battle of Puebla and the School Technical Council.
- May 30 to June 1, by School Technical Council.
- June 27 to 29, by School Technical Council.
