The vote took place during the United Nations climate conference “COP26”, which concluded in Glasgow, Thursday.
Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, congratulated his country on this occasion.
Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid said on Twitter: “We congratulate the UAE for winning the hosting of the most important global climate conference COP28 in 2023. A well-deserved choice for our country.”
He added, “We will put all our capabilities to make the conference a success, and the UAE will remain committed to global climate action to protect the planet.”
As Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, said on Twitter: “We are pleased that the UAE will host the COP28 Climate Conference in 2023.”
Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed considered that “coordinating efforts in climate action among the countries of the world is an opportunity to enhance environmental protection and achieve sustainable economic growth, and we welcome cooperation with the international community to ensure the prosperity of mankind.”
