After a long development, Selaco is finally available in Early Access on Steam. This is a boomer shooter developed using the DOOM engine (more precisely GZDoom), which exploits it in such a way as to make it unrecognizable. It’s so spectacular that even John Romero, one of the authors of DOOM when he was at id Software, liked it and called it “great” in a post on Reddit.
The story begins with the invasion of Selaco, a facility where some survivors of the fall of the Earth have found refuge. The player guides Dawn, a security captain who has discovered a truth that is too inconvenient and that someone wants to silence by force, carrying out a massacre.
The characteristics of Selaco
The game boasts a long single player campaign, extremely advanced artificial intelligence, professional-level voice acting, many game modes and other features. It costs €24.50 (22.50 introductory offer) and is currently climbing the global Steam charts. At the time of writing this news it is in twelfth position, immediately below Baldur’s Gate 3.
In the meantime the first user reviews, which are still less than one hundred, but almost all positive (95%). In short, for now the prospects for success are really good, also considering that we are not talking about a huge production.
It should be noted that Selaco’s difficulty is set decidedly higher, in line with that of many first-person shooters of the past, so much so that it could be difficult for those who are used to seeing their health bar recharged when they get down on their knees behind a barrel.
