On a Sunday full of chaos and emotions on the streets of the Principality, there was unfortunately also room for a big scare, fortunately not lasted long. The protagonist, despite him, was once again Mick Schumacher, in the second really heavy accident of his season, after the one he suffered in qualifying for the Saudi Arabian GP and which then prevented him from taking part in the GP. The German Haas driver completely lost control of the car in the Piscine section, eventually disintegrating – literally – his VF-22. The car in fact split in half. The most important thing is of course the health of the son of art, who came out almost unscathed from the car.
After the fear, however, in the Haas house it is necessary to do the damage count. The smallest team on the grid, both in terms of budget and personnel, cannot afford to have a car to be rebuilt almost every weekend. Initially it seemed that the accident was due to a technical problem, in reality it was simply a driver’s driving erroras confirmed by the person concerned and also by a Gunther Steiner rather annoyed by the situation. “With Mick we obviously saw what happened – the Bolzano manager bitterly commented to the official F1 channels – it’s not very satisfying to have a big accident again. We need to see how to get around from here“.
Schumacher, for his part, did not deny his responsibilities in the crash: “Unfortunately I went a little too wide, probably about 10 centimeters, and that was enough to lose all the grip I thought I had. The result was what you saw “. The German driver is the only one in the championship, together with Nicholas Latifi, still at zero points in the general classification.
