News comes from Bufalini in Cesena, where Mia Rusthen has been hospitalized since Saturday after a bad fall in the opening race of the Women’s World Championship. The Norwegian pilot could soon leave hospital to be transferred to Norway, where she will continue her treatment. This is what we read in a note released by the official Superbike bodies.
Rusthen fell on the sixth lap of the first race in the history of the women’s world championship. She was immediately rescued on the track, she was transported by helicopter to Bufalini in Cesena, where she was diagnosed with a concussion. On Saturday evening she underwent surgery to reduce a brain hemorrhage and relieve pressure in her head, so she was put into a coma.
“Mia Rusthen’s condition continues to be stable. She may be transferred from Italy to a hospital in Norway in the next few days, subject to approval from the medical staff,” reads the official note released this morning. So, that could be good news.
Rusthen made her debut in the Women’s World Championship this weekend, after having participated in the European Championship dedicated to women until last year. The Norwegian raced with the Trasimeno team, while in the WorldWCR she is involved with her team, Rusthen Racing.
