There is less and less left until the start of the Superbike season and the teams are preparing to reveal the weapons with which they will fight in 2024. Today it was the turn of GRT, Yamaha's satellite formation which this year too relies on Dominique Aegerter and Remy Gardner. The two riders took off the R1 with which they will take to the track starting from Phillip Island in Misano Adriatico.
White and blue stand out on the two Yamahas which sport the numbers 77 and 87 for the second consecutive year. Continuity is the key word of the GRT team, which continues the work started with the pair of drivers last year. You can also see it from the livery, which does not change in 2024 and adds only a hint of dark blue which makes the lines of the R1 even more aggressive.
We have already seen the GRT team in action during the winter tests which took place first in Jerez de la Frontera and then in Portimao. On both occasions however, it was only Remy Gardner who held the flag for Filippo Conti's team. Aegerter, in fact, was forced to withdraw due to a virus that prevented him from taking to the track. The Swiss will bet everything on the tests at Phillip Island, the last chance to do some tests before the season starts.
The GRT team concluded 2023 as the best independent team and the objectives for 2024 are clear: to improve further in order to constantly fight in the top positions. Both drivers achieved top 10 finishes last year, with Aegerter in eighth place ahead of Gardner. Now everything is ready to fly to Australia, where the GRT duo will try to battle straight away to confirm themselves as the best independent team on the Superbike grid.
