Danilo Petrucci has got a taste for it! After his first career victory in Superbike, the Barni team rider did not want to leave any margin to his opponents and opened the Cremona Sunday with a triumph. The rider from Terni won the Superpole Race, dominating unchallenged and crossing the finish line with almost two seconds of advantage over the first of his pursuers, Alex Lowes. The Kawasaki rider was the author of a solid race that allowed him to close in on Andrea Iannone in the final and then launch an attack and take second place at the checkered flag.
The Goeleven team rider, second throughout the race chasing Petrucci, gave in to the British rider, managing to finish the short race in third position even ahead of the more favoured Nicolò Bulega. rookie of the Aruba.it Racing – Ducati team ran into a complicated Superpole Race, conditioned by a problem with his bike that prevented him from taking the opportunity to nibble away a few points from Toprak Razgatlioglu.
Bulega crossed the line in fourth place and was forced to “hitch a ride” with Iannone to return to the pits, leaving his Panigale V4R on the side of the track. The Italian closed the Superpole Race ahead of teammate Alvaro Bautista, who crossed the checkered flag in sixth place after a forceful overtaking of Andrea Locatelli. Between the two Aruba riders was Iker Lecuona, fifth and best of the Honda riders. Eighth place went to Xavi Vierge with the other Fireblade.
Seventh position for Locatelli, who followed the reigning champion, finishing as the best Yamaha representative. Another complicated race for the Iwata team, which saw the other standard-bearers slowed down: Bradley Ray is 15th, Nicolò Canepa 18th and Philipp Oettl 19th followed by Alessandro Delbianco 20th. Remy Gardner (who will fly to Japan in two weeks to compete in the wild card in MotoGP) was forced to return to the pits.
The best of the BMW riders, orphaned by Toprak Razgatlioglu, was Garrett Gerloff, 9th with the M 1000 RR of the Bonovo team. The American preceded Tito Rabat, who closed the top 10 after a solid Superpole Race. The Spaniard of the Puccetti team also preceded the official Kawasaki standard bearer Axel Bassani, 11th. 12th Michael van der Mark ahead of Scott Redding, 13th and last of the BMW riders.
