The employees of the festival do not interfere with not wearing a mask.
Size at the Savonlinna Opera Festival in July, it is recommended to wear a face mask, even though the National Institute of Health and Welfare THL gave up its national mask recommendation already in mid-April.
Communications Manager for the Opera Festival Sonja Eiramo says that the mask recommendation was only introduced when the festival was in progress.
“In the first performances, there were so many questions from the audience when the staff were wearing masks. It was easier to put a mask recommendation on the public as well,” says Eiramo.
Eiramon according to the staff wear masks, because it is not possible to maintain sufficient distances between people in the castle. Hundreds of people work at the opera festival.
“All the dressing room spaces, mask spaces and back room spaces are very cramped, and we spend a lot of time among ourselves. This is a month-long festival that has to run somehow. This is to protect everyone’s health”, says Eiramo.
According to Eiramo, while the recommendation was in effect, most of the visitors were without a mask. The employees of the festival also do not interfere with not wearing a mask, but everyone can decide for themselves whether to wear a mask.
THL recommends currently wear a mask in public indoor spaces and on means of transport in a few cases: if you seek treatment or a test due to suspected corona, if you have symptoms of a respiratory infection, but it is necessary for you to move outside the home, and if you know you have been exposed to the corona virus, but you cannot avoid close contact outside the home.
