His Highness Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, confirmed that the decision to unify the armed forces, which was issued on May 6, 1976, constituted a bright mark in the history of our country, and confirmed the wisdom and determination of the founding fathers in unifying the UAE forces under central command. One, one slogan and one flag, and a federal entity that safeguards the nation’s integrity, guarantees its security and stability, protects its capabilities and wealth, and provides support to the brother, assistance to the needy and the friend.
In his speech on the occasion of the 48th anniversary of the unification of the armed forces, His Highness said that the historic decision taken by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, and his brothers, the founding leaders, may God bless them, to unify the armed forces, represents the dawn of a new dawn and an exceptional start with the help and determination of the people of the Emirates. Towards a new stage of establishing, modernizing and developing our armed forces, and preparing national military cadres qualified to lead various military units with high efficiency, equipped with the latest equipment and advanced military industries, so that the UAE military institution, today, becomes a global role model in progress and efficiency, which has enabled it to contribute positively and with capabilities. High in maintaining regional and global peace and security, and participating in supporting humanitarian and relief efforts in various parts of the world.
His Highness added: “The unification decision reflects the values of loyalty and belonging deeply rooted in the souls of the people of the nation, and their adherence to and pride in the principles of the Union State and its noble values, which the founding fathers established in the hearts of the people of the Emirates. The decision was an extension of the declaration of the founding of the United Arab Emirates in 1971, and one of the pillars of The Union, and a translation of the wisdom of the founding leaders in anticipating the future of the Union State, and its need for a deterrent force capable of protecting its achievements and gains and defending its lands, waters, and skies.”
His Highness added: “Our armed forces have always received special attention and great care from my brother, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, may God protect him, following the approach of the late founding father Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan. May God bless them, based on His Highness’s belief that the armed forces are an essential pillar in building the state, a safety valve in the process of construction and development, and an impenetrable dam to preserve national gains. His Highness’s fingerprints were clear in creating a qualitative shift in the development of our armed forces, providing them with all capabilities and providing them with the latest military technology and advanced defense industries to become at the forefront of modern military institutions.”
On this occasion, His Highness the Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah extended his warmest congratulations and blessings to His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, may God protect him, and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President of the UAE, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, May God protect him, His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President of the State, Deputy Prime Minister, Chief of the Presidential Office, and Their Highnesses Sheikhs, Members of the Supreme Council of the Federation, Rulers of the Emirates, and to members and officers of the Armed Forces, and the people of the UAE.
