Regional elections in Sardinia, speaks Livio Gigliuto, president of the Piepoli Institute
The eyes of politicians, both the majority and the opposition, are focused on the regional elections of 25 February in Sardinia. The two main coalitions are still divided and there are currently no official polls that can provide clarity. But Affaritaliani.it asked for an opinion from Livio Gigliutopresident of the Piepoli Institute, and interesting observations emerge on the electoral challenge and on the choice of the presidential candidate by the two sides.
“Alessandra Todde, the M5S candidate on whom the national Democratic Party has decided to converge, when we tested her months ago she had good feedback in terms of approval. Of course, he wasn't on the field yet Renato Soru, not only a Sardinian but also a national figure who seems to have the support of some leaders of the Democratic Party. And therefore he could also attract consensus from the Democratic Party”, explains Gigliuto.
In the centre-right “the outgoing president Christian Solinas of the League-Sardinian Action Party and the mayor of Cagliari Paolo Truzzu of Fratelli d'Italia are both well-known figures, even if as often happens those who have already governed the region have some advantages over those who present themselves as new people”.
Ultimately, despite not yet having polls, according to Gigliuto it can be said that at the moment the candidates in official quotes are favoured, then Todde and Solinas as outgoing Governor. But the game, if it were really a four-way game in the event of no agreement, would be very close.
