In an act of political formality, Santiago Taboada sealed his participation as candidate for the Head of Government of Mexico City for the “Va por la CDMX” coalitionmade up of the PAN, PRI and PRD.
After his Official register and with the prominent presence of national leaders such as Marko Cortés of the PAN and Jesús Zambrano of the PRD, Taboada gave a speech at the Electoral Institute of Mexico City (IECM) where he highlighted the decisive nature of the next election as a confrontation between democratic forces and authoritarian.

Taboada, backed by a lively crowd chanting “Head of Government!”, stressed his confidence in maintaining support in the mayoralties currently under opposition government, in addition to envisioning victories in the eastern demarcations, currently in the hands of Morena.

Taboada asks the IECM for impartiality
In a call for the importance of democratic institutions, Taboada urged the IECM to guarantee the impartiality of the electoral process, highlighting the need for them to be arbitrators who ensure the freedom of citizens to vote.
“This election is precisely about democrats against authoritarians,” Taboada said, emphasizing the need to protect democracy in the city.
Taboada promises an “open door” government in CDMX
The candidate also outlined his vision for the capital, promising an open-door government and an administration that provides quality of life to its inhabitants. “We are going to be a government that provides democratic conditions, so that being an opposition in this city does not have to be a reason for persecution,” he emphasized.
Regarding the electoral campaign, Taboada emphasized the importance of the next three months, describing them as crucial for the future of Mexico City. “These three months have to be with courage, with effort and convincing all the people of this city who aspire to live better,” he declared.
