The President of the Government, Pedro Sanchezhas asked citizens this Monday to applaud “all public servants” who work in Valencia after the catastrophe of the DANA which has already claimed 222 deaths (214 in the province).
During his appearance before the media to report on new security measuresadditional aid for those affected with an estimated impact of 3.8 billion of euros, the president wanted to highlight the work of all the commanders deployed in the area near the unusual storm. “The State is all of us,” he stated. the socialist leader at the same time encouraged the repetition of this premise, while at the same time he did not hesitate to ask for “more science and fewer climate change deniers.”
The socialist has pointed out that workers and businessmen “pay their taxesprecisely, so that in situations like this the State responds effectively and equitably.” For the president, “we are seeing campaigns on social networks that only the people help the people” and he has insisted that the State is all of us.
“During the pandemic at 8:00 p.m. we gathered on the balconies to applaud the health professionals. Today We must do the same with all public servants of all the administrations that are working shoulder to shoulder with neighborswith the NGOs, to whom all this amalgam of hoaxes and misinformers do is point unfairly. We are all the State,” he said.
“Learning the lesson”
Sánchez, who has bought the DANA catastrophe with other emergencies such as the La Palma volcanothe storm Filomena in Madrid or the pandemic, has warned that “We are facing a climate emergency that will demand the best from all of us. of ourselves. Attend to the technicians, listen to and learn from science, do not denigrate it, strengthen public services,” he reiterated. “The Government is where it needs to be. What we have to do is rebuild and relaunch economic activity and learn the lesson,” he added.
Sánchez has been highly criticized by the population for DANA’s management of the emergency. In this sense, the party Iustitia Europewho on the 3rd presented a brief against the President of the Government and against the Minister of the Interior, Fernando Grande-Marlaska, has expanded its complaint for the management of DANA before the Supreme Courtwhich has included the Minister of Ecological Transition, Teresa Ribera and the president Carlos Mazón. The coalition created for the Europeans accuses them of omission of the duty to provide assistance, omissive prevarication, reckless homicide and injuries.
