The President of the Government and the President of the Valencian Generalitat have sent this an unusual message of unity in Spanish politics. After the reproaches of the opposition leader and the doubts conveyed from the central Executive due to the time management of the Government’s alerts, Pedro Sánchez and Carlos Mazón have appeared together from the Integrated Operational Coordination Center (CECOPI) of the Valencian Community .
“Thank you very much, dear president, for your quick presence and for your closeness,” Mazón told Sánchez after the visit to the affected areas and a meeting with those responsible for the operation. The tone and message of the Valencian president, of the PP, contrasts with the harsh words of Alberto Núñez Feijóo this Thursday, in which he reproached the central Executive for not sharing any information about the development of this operation. His party colleague and head of the regional executive, however, has expressly thanked the President of the Government for the cooperation and help of the central administration and the different ministries.
Pedro Sánchez also intervened after the visit, which began with a warning message to citizens asking them not to let their guard down. “DANA continues, do not leave your homes. The most important thing is to save the maximum number of lives possible,” the president asked.
Sánchez has reiterated the “maximum commitment to the Generalitat Valenciana” as well as “all possible resources as long as necessary.” “We send a message of absolute collaboration and cooperation. Any more resources you need, the Government of Spain is here. We are not going to leave the Valencians alone. The priority is to find the missing, first, and then put all the resources into reconstruction,” he noted.
Before, in the morning, the leader of the PP also went to the Valencian Community to defend the management of the president of the Generalitat and attack the central government during the DANA that in the last hours has claimed 95 human lives, 92 of them in the community of Carlos Mazón.
Feijóo has called the storm a “national emergency” which, in the case of the Valencian Community, “is being managed with information from another public administration”, in reference to the central government. The leader of the opposition has established himself as coordinator of regional presidents of the PP and PSOE, has questioned the information from the AEMET and has highlighted the work of the regional authorities: “The pride in how they have worked will always last us ”, he said.
