During the latest Unpacked event, focused on the presentation of high-end smartphones for 2024, Samsung surprisingly announced its entry into the smartphone market smart ringsintroducing Galaxy Ring through a short video teaser.
The video lasting about 10 seconds provided a preview of the design of this curious gadget, leaving information and details on the features pending.
However, recently, a Samsung executive shared online the alleged launch timing for the innovative wearable device which would reveal a official debut during this year.
Mysterious ring
The first news about Galaxy Ring emerged in September, preceded by Samsung's registration of the name as early as March.
The company has maintained a certain confidentiality on technical specifications and software features, limiting itself to confirming the presence of various sensors for monitoring health and sports activities, in line with the standards of current smartwatches.
The manufacturer preferred not to disclose the launch date, which currently remains unknown.
However, Daniel Seung, head of Samsung's B2B Wearable/IoT/Accessory division, recently announced that the new wearable device will see the light of day in the second half of 2024.
This revelation fuels the hypothesis that Galaxy Ring could be presented during the second Unpacked event of the year, where the expected ones will also be officially revealed foldable smartphones of Samsung and the new smartwatches.
Maybe in the fall
According to information from Avi Greengart, known for his accurate previews regarding the launches of the Galaxy S24 models, the highly anticipated ring will stand out for its extraordinary lightness and will be available in 13 different sizes, with three finishing variations.
The price of the device still remains shrouded in mystery, awaiting official confirmation.
Considering that the second Unpacked, the alleged presentation event, is usually held in the summer, it could represent the ideal time for Samsung to officially reveal the new Galaxy Ring, with a launch expected by autumn.
As for the features of Samsung's future wearable device, no further details are currently available.
It is hypothesized that Galaxy Ring, in addition to offering various functions for monitoring health and physical activity, by integrating with Samsung Health, will potentially also include elements of artificial intelligence.
