Today, Sheikh Salem bin Abdul Rahman Al Qasimi, Head of the Office of His Highness the Ruler, opened the exhibition “I Am Here: Redefining Disability in the World of Art,” which is organized by the Art for All Center of the Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services, in cooperation with the Sharjah Museums Authority, with the participation of 34 artists, and continues until 10 Next June, at the Sharjah Art Museum. Sheikh Salem bin Abdul Rahman Al Qasimi toured the corridors of the exhibition, which represents a creative journey, during which artists with disabilities reformulate their vision of the concept of disability, through their influential artworks, and listened to a detailed explanation about the artworks and their diverse and ambitious connotations. .
The “I Am Here” exhibition represents an artistic and cultural tributary that achieves the vision of the Art for All Center and its sustainable mission, to build bridges of communication between artists with disabilities and their non-disabled peers, and brings together 34 male and female artists affiliated with the Center, presenting more than 84 artistic paintings and creative works.
The exhibition aims to shed light on creative, artistic and inspiring people with disabilities, by displaying their talents in various artistic forms, and achieving the principle of equal opportunities in the artistic and cultural fields.
The opening of the exhibition was attended by Aisha Rashid Dimas, Director General of the Sharjah Museums Authority, Mona Abdul Karim Al Yafei, Director General of Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services, and Abdullah Sultan bin Salumah, Director of Al Bataeh Municipality.
