New adventure
Start today, at the age of 62, a new sporting adventure for Carlos Sainz sr. The Spanish legend, winner of two WRC world titles and four editions of the Dakar – including the last one obtained in January this year with Audi – has decided to join forces with the Ford brand to try to conquer a storic fifth statement in the most important and toughest rally-raid in the world in 2025. The Spaniard has in fact made his return official under the banner of the American company with which he had already raced at the beginning of his career in the WRC and then in various other phases of his sporting life in rallies.
Iberian couple
Sainz will find his compatriot as a teammate Nani Romehimself winner of two Dakars in his career, one with motorbikes in 2004 and one with cars in 2014. The two Spaniards represent half of a super-team of four cars that will race in Saudi Arabia next January driving new Dakar Raptors designed and built by M-Sport. Sainz had to look for a seat after the divestment – already announced – of the Audi-Dakar project.
Pokerissimo in the viewfinder
Should he manage to win the Dakar with Ford too, Sainz would further increase his legend. In fact, his four successes have so far come with four different brands (Volkswagen, Peugeot, Mini and Audi) and with Ford the poker game would come.
“Returning to work with Ford for the fourth time, returning to M-Sport, returning to Malcolm [Wilson, amministratore delegato di M-Sport] that I know very well, it’s really cool. My history with Ford begins in ’87 and I believe I was Malcolm’s first driver, his first official driver. I’m very proud of it. I’m really excited to drive the Raptor and to face this great challenge with many objectives. One of them is help Ford win the Dakar“, Sainz declared on the sidelines of the presentation.
