Solid relationship
If there were any doubts about the 'health' conditions of the relationship between Carlos Sainz and Ferrari following the announcement last February 1st, when the Scuderia essentially liquidated the Spaniard for 2025 by making the sensational hiring of Lewis Hamilton official, the three days of testing in Bahrain provided a positive response.
In fact, not only does the Spaniard seem to have adapted quite well to the new SF-24, but also the internal relationship dynamics between him and the red team appears to be in full health: “I am proud of the work done by the team to put us in a position to have such a productive test“, declared the #55 from Madrid, commenting on the work carried out on day 3 on the Sakhir track.
The last kilometers before starting to get serious
Engaged in the morning session, when the asphalt was decidedly less performing, Sainz closed the session with the ninth fastest time – the best among those who only shot at the beginning of the day – and 71 laps completed.
“We have maximized the time available to best prepare for next week's Grand Prix – explained the Iberian – and overall it was another good day. The initial red flag disturbed the program a bit, but despite that I enjoyed every lap in the cockpit. We tried different setups to collect as much data as possible and overall the car seems to be pretty good“. The final test will arrive in seven days again in Bahrain with the first GP of 2024.
