Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation Igor Krasnov, as part of his visit to Latin America on Wednesday, April 17, met with the Chairman of the Supreme People's Court of Cuba Ruben Remigio Ferro.

The Prosecutor General noted the high level of cooperation between the countries. According to him, Russia is ready to share its experience of sustainable judicial practice, including those related to the fight against terrorism, drug trafficking and money laundering. Krasnov also expressed interest in exchanging views on current issues of mutual interest, including the human rights sphere and combating crime

“I am firmly convinced that our common ultimate goal is to protect the rights of citizens and the legally protected interests of society and the state. After all, as Fidel Castro accurately put it: “whoever is not able to fight for others will never be able to fight for himself” – quotes him as saying website Prosecutor General's Office.

Krasnov proposed organizing a dialogue within the framework of scientific research at the University of the Prosecutor's Office, and also expressed interest in an exchange of views between specialists from the two countries.

In addition, as part of his visit to Latin America, the Prosecutor General met with the head of the General Control Directorate of Cuba, Gladis Maria Bejerano Portela. According to his statements, agreements on the development and strengthening of Russian-Cuban cooperation fully relate to the anti-corruption sphere.

“At the national level, we have significant experience both in preventing and combating corruption, and in compensating for the damage caused. Having our own unique methods for conducting anti-corruption examinations of legal acts, identifying and preventing conflicts of interest, and monitoring the income and expenses of officials allows us to effectively counter various manifestations of corruption,” said the Prosecutor General.

The head of the Russian supervisory agency emphasized the importance of carrying out such work with the younger generation and said that the Prosecutor General’s Office of Russia has been holding an international social anti-corruption advertising competition “Together against corruption!” for several years, which he invited Cuba to join.

“I invite Cuban youth to join this platform, and you to co-organize it and join the international jury,” Igor Krasnov suggested to Gladis Maria Bejerano Portele.
