«Russia does not want peace, for them peace means defeat, they have begun to say publicly that they do not intend to stop, that they have not yet completed their task. Putin's main goal is to deprive us of independence, that Ukraine is part of his empire.” These are the words of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, who added: «Pope Francis is right, it is already happening. People get used to the war, they also get used to the fact that thousands of Ukrainian children have been deported. But when the war comes to your home it is impossible to get used to it and it is also inadmissible, otherwise you have lost the war, you have lost yourself.”
Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan has confirmed Russian President Vladimir Putin's imminent visit to Turkey. Fidan did not reveal the date of the Russian leader's mission, however in recent days there have been several leaks indicating February 12 as the day of the meeting with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. The Kremlin had also confirmed that Putin's entourage is working to prepare what will be Putin's first and probably only visit to a country born since the Russian invasion of Ukraine, which took place almost two years ago. “This is a visit that will give us the opportunity to discuss various topics,” said Fidan, who mentioned the Middle East, Ukraine, Syria and energy.

Biden: strong support for the release of aid to Kiev
Joe Biden has given his “strong support” to the bipartisan agreement reached in the Senate on the security package which includes stricter measures on immigration and the unblocking of aid to Ukraine, Israel and Taiwan. “It is the fruit of more than two months of negotiations and the work of the administration, night and day, holidays and weekends,” the president said, underlining that the law “will make the United States safer, the borders safer and the people more protected and treated in a more humane way and at the same time will preserve legal immigration according to the values of our country”. US senators have released the text of a bipartisan border security package that would unlock vital aid for Ukraine, with an initial vote expected by mid-week, although the prospects of it becoming law are unclear. Senators have been negotiating a deal to combat illegal immigration for months, with Republicans insisting on increased border security in exchange for approval of a White House request for more than $60 billion for Kiev.
