Russia Trains arriving from Russia are still full, VR is planning additional services

VR wants to increase train services from St. Petersburg to Helsinki to meet the increased demand. Trains from St. Petersburg have been filled for a week by Russians and returnees leaving their homeland.

Last from sunday all Allegro trains departing from St. Petersburg for VR have been full. The same situation continues.

“The trains are still full right now. Today’s, tomorrow’s and Monday’s trains are fully booked. From Tuesday, however, there will be plenty of space, ”says VR’s Director of Traffic in Russia Viktoria Hurri.

According to him, a lot of seats are reserved in the last ting and the situation is alive from day to day.

From passengers According to Hurr, there have already been hopes for more shifts. VR is now planning measures to meet the increased demand.

“Currently, there are two trains a day from St. Petersburg. There are plans to increase capacity on the third train. It is hoped that it will come true next week. ”

However, the matter is not only in VR’s hands, but the plans are drawn up together with both the Finnish and Russian authorities.

“We’re waiting to see what kind of answers we get. I hope we get the information as early as next week. ”

Current train services run from St. Petersburg to Helsinki in the mornings and afternoons from Monday to Saturday. On Sunday, the first train leaves shortly before noon and the second in the afternoon.

The planned third shift would be an evening shift.

With both existing trains full, less than 700 passengers arrive from Russia on a VR ride. About 70 percent of them are Russian. With the third shift, less than a thousand passengers could arrive from Russia every day on VR’s trains.
