Russia launched a severe threat to the United Kingdom by stating this Thursday (23) that it would attack British targets if Ukraine uses weapons supplied by London on Russian territory.
The Russian threat was made by the spokeswoman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Vladimir Putin regime, Maria Zakharova.
“As we know, during your visit to Kiev, [David] Cameron [chanceler britânico] said that, and I quote: ‘Ukraine has every right to attack Russian territory using British weapons’. Was it an unsuccessful attempt at self-promotion? Or has he retreated from London’s official position?” said Zakharova.
“We draw conclusions from this case, however. We recorded this case, we said directly that in response to attacks using British weapons against the territory of our country, we can attack any British military targets and weapons in Ukraine and beyond,” he added.
At the beginning of this, Cameron actually cited Ukraine’s “right” to use British weapons to strike targets beyond its territory.
The same speech by Cameron was cited by the spokeswoman as one of the reasons why the Russians began exercises with tactical nuclear weapons on the country’s border with Ukraine.
Cameron gave this line during an interview with the agency Reuters while visiting Kiev earlier this month. During the visit, the British Chancellor reinforced the United Kingdom’s support for Ukraine, with the promise of a multi-year military aid package, encouraging other countries to follow the same example.
