At least 4 people died; Ministry of Defense says Ukrainians “spent the morning in shelters”
Russia launched large-scale missile attacks across Ukraine this Monday (8.Jan.2024). According to the agency Reutersbombings were recorded in residential and commercial areas.
All regions of the country were placed under risk alert for air attacks. At least 4 civilians died. The Ukrainian Ministry of Defense he said having intercepted 18 missiles and 8 drones during the attacks.
According to Reuters, two people died in the western Khmelnytskyi region, where critical infrastructure was hit. A woman has died in an attack in a region south of Kharkiv, in eastern Ukraine. Bombings hit an industry and an educational institution in the city.
In Kryvyi Rih, a 62-year-old man died. In the city, a shopping center and dozens of residential homes and apartment buildings were damaged after 9 Russian missiles hit the region. More than 15,000 people were left without power. In Zaporizhzhia, in southeastern Ukraine, 4 people were injured after explosions in residential areas.
The Ukrainian Air Forces advised anyone in the capital, Kiev, to seek shelter, as the city was under threat from ballistic missiles. Several people took shelter in subway stations.
“Ukrainians spent this morning in shelters. Russian terror must be stopped. Help Ukraine stop this!”, wrote the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense in the X (formerly Twitter).
