Rubén Gisbert tries again to monetize the DANA tragedy with the hoax that the Government hides the real number of deaths

Rubén Gisbert, the political agitator and former collaborator of the program Horizon by Iker Jiménez, has once again tried to monetize the DANA tragedy with a new hoax. In this case, last Monday night (9:00 p.m.), a video was broadcast on the social network X (formerly Twitter) in which two people appear loading several coffins in a van.

In his post, Gisbert assures the following: “November 18, 2024 at 9:01 p.m. in c/Antonio Carpio, between Filiberto Rodrigo and Emili Ferrer (Catarroja) 20 DAYS LATER the neighbors report that bodies continue to appear in garages that the neighbors “They couldn’t clean it and the firefighters started bailing.”

With this post, Gisbert continues his narrative that the authorities are hiding the real number of victims. A few weeks ago, he uploaded several videos to his social networks in which he claimed that there were 700 dead in the parking lot of the Bonaire shopping center. “It is a cemetery that you, the politicians, have turned the shopping center into,” he claimed, citing sources of complete credit. Finally, when the place was cleared, there was not a single victim.

The influencer of Valencian origin, a lawyer by training and founder of the Democratic Junta of Spain in 2020, was fired – it is not known if permanently – from the program Horizon directed by journalist Iker Jiménez, and who has just been expelled from YouTube. The facts that motivated the sanction were that he got mud up to his knees to perform a live show and thus give the appearance that he had been working on the recovery work at the so-called Ground Zero of the DANA.

For next November 24, he is promoting a demonstration in Madrid and Valencia. Although he usually boasts that he does not identify with any political party, he is common in programs such as State of alarmby Javier Negre, for example. He has also been seen collaborating with Alvise Pérez or Dani Esteve, owner of Desokupa.

The facts

Gisbert starts from a real event, but manipulates it to make it seem like he is a DANA victim. On Monday, around mid-afternoon, an “elderly” person died in Catarroja – according to sources from the town council. The reason for death appears to be a heart attack. The death occurred on the third floor—although the information may not be exact—at number 16 Calle del Torero Antonio Carpio, but it had nothing to do with DANA. What the city council denies, and several witnesses have corroborated Eldiario.es, is that it appeared in a garage.

Since the death had nothing to do with the tragedy that devastated the town, and a good part of the province of Valencia, it is not among the victims counted to date. In fact, between Sunday and Tuesday, no deaths have been added to the 219 that have been recorded. Gisbert uses this fact to imply that the administrations (in this case, the Superior Court of Justice of the Valencian Community, which is in charge of carrying out autopsies) are lying.

Another fact is that the video used by the influencer It appears to have been manipulated, although it is true that the body was taken from its home to undergo an autopsy.

Currently, there are no widely used programs that can determine if a video has been generated by Artificial Intelligence, but it can analyze frames. In this case, the opinion on the Winston AI website – one of the best – determines that they have been modified using this technology with 99% reliability. It could be, for example, a photo that has been animated. Eldiario.es has tried without success to contact him through his social networks so that he can offer his version of the events.
