RTX 3080 12GB: Nvidia would have stopped production according to a rumor

According to some rumors, Nvidia would have production stopped of the graphics card RTX 3080 12GB. The source is the Twitter account @Zed_Wang.

According to what has been indicated, the motivation must be found in the fact that, after the price drop of the 3080 Ti, the 12 GB 3080 has the same price as the Ti: it would no longer make sense, at an economic level, for Nvidia to make the chips of the 12 GB.

It therefore appears that they will remain there on the market RTX 3080 10GB and the RTX 3080 Ti. Recall that the 3080 10GB contains 8704 cores, while the 12GB has 8960. The main difference is the memory bus, 320-bit for the 10GB model and 384-bit for the 12GB model. This means that the actual bandwidth is 760GB / s and 912GB / s respectively. So if you buy a 12GB 3080, you get more shaders and 2GB more memory with more bandwidth.

As always, remember that it is a rumor, not official information. We will have to wait for confirmations or denials.

We also remember that Nvidia and AMD GPUs are being sold at bargain prices by miners with the collapse of cryptocurrencies.
