Third to last event of the season with bated breath in Chile, where the reigning world champion Kalle Rovanperä he earned his fourth victory of the season. Ogier hat-trick on Super Sunday
The last day of the Chilean rally, difficult for the drivers to face once again due to the fog, highlighted the entire class of Sébastien Ogier. The Frenchman, despite having nothing to lose following yesterday’s retirement due to damage suffered to his Toyota after hitting a stone, won all the special tests prior to the Power Stage. A hat-trick which, however, did not shake the balance of the general classification, with Rovanperä maintaining the leadership ahead of Evans, Tänak and Neuville, closer to his Hyundai teammate after the good performance in SS15, which ended in 3rd place.
Power Stage
Bad weather also occurred on the occasion of the sixteenth and final round of the Chile Rally, but without the heavy fog that hindered the drivers between Friday and Saturday albeit with a few drops of rain at the end. In this context, Ogier confirmed himself once again with the best time, fourth out of four races on Super Sunday, with the third to last round of the world championship won however by Kalle Rovanperä, his fourth success in a championship contested part-time by the champion of the world in charge. The Finn finished ahead of Evans, Tänak and Neuville, with the Estonian driver nibbling a few points away from the Belgian, leader of the Drivers’ classification.
