Rome
Arms outstretched and the “present” shouted to remember Franco Bigonzetti, Francesco Ciavatta and Stefano Recchioni. The Roman right, among laurel wreaths and institutional presences, repeats the usual ritual to remember the victims of the Acca Larentia massacre. The story takes us back to January 7, 1978. At the height of the Years of Lead, three boys aged between 18 and 20 were killed in an ambush at the headquarters of the Italian Social Movement in Acca Larentia in Tuscolano. Bigonzetti and Ciavatta died in the attack. Recchioni a few hours away, in clashes with the police to quell the protest. “Commemorating the dead is one thing, giving institutional cover to fascist rallies is another. Over the years, the left and right have worked to build a shared memory of the victims of the Years of Lead, but this demonstration is something else. Rocca and Angelilli remember that they are at the head of a democratic institution”, writes Emanuela Droghei, regional councilor and coordinator of the Rome PD secretariat
