The medical tests carried out this Monday morning have confirmed what Real Madrid had already feared since Saturday. Apart from Militão, who will be out for nine months due to his new cruciate tear, the whites lose two important players in the coming weeks: Lucas Vázquez, undisputed starter since Caravajal also broke his cruciate, and Rodrygo Goes.
The medical report issued this morning reflects that Rodrygo has been diagnosed with an injury to the rectus femoris of his left leg. The expected time off is five to six weeks. The Brazilian had reappeared a few days ago against Milan from another muscle injury, in the hamstrings of his right leg.
In the case of Lucas Vázquez, the Galician full-back has an injury to the adductor longus of his left leg. Here the sick leave time is somewhat shorter, approximately one month. Vázquez has the worst replacement in the squad since he was Carvajal’s natural substitute. Right now Valverde is the one who could occupy that position or call a youth player, like Jesús Fortea.
The comeback
The Intercontinental on December 18
The two newly injured players will miss the games against Leganés (November 24 at Butarque), Liverpool (November 27 at Anfield), Getafe (December 1 at the Bernabéu), Athletic (December 4 at San Mamés), Girona (December 7 -December 8 in Montilivi) and Atalanta (December 10 in Bergamo). The first possibility of return is against Rayo on December 15 in Vallecas. And if not, the Intercontinental, on December 18 in Doha (Qatar), the second trophy up for grabs of the season.
