Rigoberto Uran is facing what would be his last season as a professional cyclist, his idea and dream is to win a medal in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games to end his career at the top of world sport.
The 37-year-old rider was seen in recent days preparing for the 2024 World Tour season and training alongside the Briton. Chris Froomefour-time Tour de France champion.
After his participation in the The Great Way of Portugal, race which Jonas Vingegaard conquered and in which Egan Bernal was third, Rigo was lost from the scene and decided not to participate in different classics and World Tour races in Europe after suffering some physical problems.
However, this Thursday the good news arrived, since Rigoberto Uran was confirmed by his team, EF Education, for the Spanish classic, Miguel Indurain Grand Prize.
The runner born in Urrao, Antiochwill be accompanied by his compatriots Esteban Chaves and Jefferson Cepeda in the 25th edition of the competition that will take place this Saturday, March 30 in the Navarrese city of Estella.
Race route
The Miguel Induráin Grand Prix is part of the UCI ProSeries calendar and will feature 11 World Tour teams: EF Education, Jayco, Lidl, Movistar, UAE, Arkéa, Astana, Bora, Cofidis, Decathlon, DSM, 9 ProTeam -Lotto, Israel, TotalEnergies, Caja Rural, Burgos, Polti, Kern Pharma, Q36.5 and Euskaltel and two continental ones, Illes Balears and Sabgal.
The race will have a 198.1 kilometer route departing in Estella-Lizarra and arriving in the Navarrese city of Estella-Inmaculada.
In addition, the Miguel Induráin Grand Prix will have three second-category mountain passes in Alto de Lezaun and the ascent to Alto de Eraul, and one first-class mountain pass in Alto de Guirguillano.
