There second day of pre-season tests of Barcelona recorded the ‘changing of the guard’ for several teams which, compared to yesterday’s session, have carried out the entire program today with a different rider from the one who took to the track on Wednesday. Among these, the McLaren continued its operations with Daniel Ricciardo, which carried on the work previously done by Lando Norris. While the British had closed practice on 23 February with the best time ever, the Australian still placed his car among those of the three fastest drivers of the day, finishing at 3rd place behind Pierre Gasly and the leader Charles Leclerc.
The winner of the last Italian Grand Prix recorded the best personal time on the1: 20.288taking advantage of the soft tires (C4) and driving along 126 turnsconfirming the good feelings already emerged with Norris at the wheel: “It was a good day in many ways – analyzed Ricciardo, on his first outing with the MCL36 – and I think the reliability was excellent. This is the result of the hard work of the team and all those who have worked hard to make this machine, and I would therefore like to extend a huge thank you to them. They were impressive in building a completely new car, putting it on the track and making it work so well, so a big thank you to them again. We passed 100 laps on both days, which gives Lando and me an extra opportunity to learn the car and be able to push it, so I’m very happy with that. We have some good strengths and we just need to keep working on some areas where we can improve ”.
