Sony Interactive Entertainment is preparing for a new change at the top following the departure of former CEO Jim Ryan from the company. Effective June 1, 2024, Hideaki Nishino will assume the role of CEO of SIE’s Platform Business Group, while Hermen Hulst will be the new CEO of the Studio Business Group. Hiroki Totoki, current interim CEO of SIE, will serve as president of Sony Interactive Entertainment, while also continuing in his roles as president, chief operating officer and chief financial officer of Sony Group Corporation. Totoki will be the point of reference for Nishino and Hulst, who will report directly to him. In an official note, Totoki underlined the importance of this new organizational structure for retaining PlayStation users and expanding to new audiences.
“Sony Interactive Entertainment is a dynamic and growing company that delivers extraordinary entertainment experiences through the connection of content and technology,” said Totoki. “These two leaders will have clear responsibilities and manage strategic direction to ensure the focus remains on the depth of interaction with current PlayStation users and the expansion of experiences to new audiences.” Hideaki Nishino, who will have responsibility for the Platform Business Group, will advance the innovation and development of PlayStation platforms, ensuring that technology continues to evolve to meet the needs of gamers. Hermen Hulst, at the helm of the Studio Business Group, will focus on producing high-quality exclusive content, continuing to consolidate SIE’s reputation as a leader in the video game industry.
