The Minister of Public Works holds meetings with groups, businessmen, universities and unions to strengthen the initiative
The regional government proposes to build a great agreement with the social groups of the Region that defines and prioritizes the execution of the infrastructures of the Region that “help to have better internal and external connections, that unite us more with the rest of the countries of the world and favor our strategic position.
This was stated yesterday by the Minister of Development and Infrastructure, José Ramón Díez de Revenga, during the presentation of the document to the regional executive commission of the General Union of Workers (UGT) of the Region of Murcia, led by its general secretary in the Region Antonio Jimenez.
José Ramón Díez de Revenga stressed that “infrastructures play a key role in the development and cohesion of the territories, because progress, wealth and employment circulate through them” and pointed out that the Pact must “guarantee that the Region of Murcia a strategic position within the formulas of intermodality in transport and new communication channels, both by land, sea and air».
Until next March 11, the consultation in the Transparency Portal is open in order to collect contributions
“From its design to its implementation, years go by that exceed political cycles and, with this Pact, we have to align efforts to guarantee the integrity of the infrastructures and their durability over time”, highlighted the counselor, who added that ” the objective is to avoid changes of direction, such as that of the railway island to which we are headed».
The counselor stressed that, in this proposed agreement, “it is essential that it be enriched with the contributions of the unions, and with the public consultation to add citizen suggestions”, open until March 11 on the Transparency Portal.
The Social Pact for Infrastructures was proposed by the president of the Community, Fernando López Miras, in the last debate on the State of the Region. The objective is to reach a great agreement between the social groups of the Region in which the priority infrastructures “that will mark growth and a prosperous future of the Region in the next 20 years” are collected. The Pact will set a stable roadmap for the infrastructures to guarantee their execution before the political leaders of the different administrations, regardless of their color, and avoid changes of course when the political leaders change.
From the Ministry of Public Works, a broad process of citizen participation is being developed. Since last September, a round of contacts with civil society groups began to present the proposal for a Social Pact for Infrastructures. To date, “we have met with more than 30 groups representing civil society in the Region, both from user organizations and universities, professional associations, business organizations, the transport sector and construction groups” .
“For example,” explains the counselor, “in the last week meetings have been held with UPCT, UCAM, UGT, Ucomur, the Chambers of Commerce of Lorca and Murcia, Ceclor, Froet, the Federation of Municipalities and AJE, among others. In the next few days, we will do it with the CC OO union, the UMU and Apirm”, says Díez de Revenga.
