RetroArch is now available for iPhone and iPad onApp Store. It is one of the best options available to emulate practically everything (or almost everything), which adds to an emulation scene in full swing, after Apple’s openness to the arrival of emulators on the App Store such as Gamma and Delta.
In a nutshell, RetroArch is not a real emulator but afrontend interface for emulators, game engines and media players. It therefore functions as a sort of “hub” that allows users to access and use a wide range of emulators and applications via a single unified interface. Basically, once RetroArch is installed, you need to download the “cores” of the emulators (plug-in modules), available within the software, then configure them to make them work. It’s not exactly immediate, but once you have learned the few concepts necessary to make it work properly, it becomes a precious friend for retrogaming lovers.
Where to download it
There are cores for practically every platform, such as SNES, Sega Genesis, PlayStation, Saturn and many others. Of course it is the user who has to provide the games, all strictly originalsof which a digital backup copy was made.
RetroArch has been around for years now and is established and known for comfort general: not only does it give you extensive control over game emulation, allowing you to improve the graphics performance of many platforms, but it also has many additional features, such as state saves, online play, the ability to rewind the action, RetroAchievements (think of Xbox Achievements or PlayStation Trophies) and many more.
The iOS version, as mentioned downloadable from the App Store, requires version 14.2 or higher of Apple’s mobile operating system. If you are interested in knowing which platforms RetroArch is available for, start from official site. Imagine that it is also on Steam.
