Elota, Sinaloa.- With the objective of generating a higher and better production of the tilapia fishery in Elota, municipal authorities gave Start of the Fingerling Restocking Program with the planting of 200,000 hatchlings in the “Ingeniero Aurelio Benassini Vizcaíno” dam –El Salto-.
The mayoress of Elota, Ana Karen Val Medina, and the director of Economic Development of the City Council, Ximena Castro Ayón, came to the reservoir of the hydraulic work to deposit the calves.
Accompanied by biologists and fishermen from municipal cooperatives, The authorities reported that this support will directly benefit 250 families.
Castro Ayón indicated that The program will be carried out in stages, to conclude in November of this year.
“In the same way, fingerlings have been requested before the Secretary of Fisheries and Aquaculture of the State of Sinaloa, this year 10 million were requested through the Program for the Restocking of Reservoirs and Dams of the State of Sinaloa, for this year’s exercise”, stressed.
The municipal official pointed out that work continues at the Fingerling Reproductive Center in order to increase its productivity, Therefore, a few weeks ago, 3,500 pups of the fish were deposited in the place, with the support of the Faculty of Marine Sciences of the UAS.
“Support programs have also been attended by the Federal Government, through INAPESCA (National Fisheries Institute), in which 450 thousand seeds of tilapia species were requested; this is done with the aim of enhancing the fishing sector”, he said.
Castro Ayón highlighted that at the same time the certification of the reproductive center is being managed, which will open doors to be a supplier to other bodies of water for the commercialization of fingerlings.
