Hämeenkatu McDonald’s is normally open 24 hours a day.
To Tampere The Hämeenkatu McDonald’s restaurant had to be closed early on Sunday morning at around five o’clock. The restaurant is normally open 24 hours a day.
The restaurant was closed for about an hour because there were so many disturbances among the customers.
“There was verbal and physical disturbance of various kinds. There was so much disruption on the customer side that we had to act like this”, the McDonald’s entrepreneur Hannu Wiinikainen says.
For example, a customer threw his food at the employees behind the counter.
The police were finally called to the scene. Internal Finland police station Petri Kollanen says that the police have recorded that they visited the McDonald’s address to remove people from the place at 5:38 a.m. According to him, no one has been arrested in the situation.
In a restaurant according to Wiinikainen, there are normally about 2–3 security guards on weekend nights.
“According to my understanding, it’s been a bit more now, not all day, of course, but intermittently,” he says.
According to Wiinikainen, the restaurant’s employees are instructed not to go outside the hall on weekend nights except to do the necessary cleaning, and even then the janitor is present.
“The staff also doesn’t intervene in customer disputes, that’s the job of the security guards and orderlies,” he says.
Not all customers who were in the restaurant in the morning had time to get the food they had already paid for. Wiinikainen does not know how many meals have not been delivered.
However, he says that undelivered food can be refunded against a receipt.
“From the system, we can verify that this has been the case at this time and this situation. We can definitely refund that money.”
