The railway operator Renfe has announced the opening of a channel on WhatsApp to inform the users of the Madrid core on the state of train circulation. Through this messaging tool, the company seeks to offer a new real-time communication channel for Cercanías travelers.
The objective of this service is to facilitate the access to updated information on the Cercanías servicesuch as possible incidents, delays or alterations in the train schedule. Renfe highlights that the implementation of WhatsApp as a means of communication responds to the need to more efficiently reach users who, daily, use the Cercanías network in Madrid.
The initiative will begin to be implemented in Madridwhich has the largest volume of users on the national Cercanías network. In later phases, Renfe plans to extend this WhatsApp channel to other Cercanías centers in Spain.
To access the channel, users can subscribe and activate WhatsApp notifications to receive train status updates directly on your mobile devices. The company has stressed that this is an official channel and encourages users to verify its authenticity when subscribing.
