The range of Renault Rafale, the Losanga sports SUV, is expanding. After the preview in May, the top of the range 300 HP 4×4 version makes its debut on the price list, equipped with the French brand’s E-Tech hybrid. Renault has announced the opening of orders for this version, with Rafale E-Tech 4×4 300 HP available in two trim levels: Esprit Alpine with a price from 52,700 euros and Atelier Alpine from 57,200 euros.
The new Renault engine
The engine of the Rafale E-Tech 4×4 300 HP was designed based on the E-Tech Hybrid 200 HP powertrainto which an electric motor has been added on the rear axle and a rechargeable battery with a capacity of 22 kWh. In this way the Rafale acquires an autonomy of up to 100 kilometers in 100% electric mode. The combination of combustion engine, three electric motors and battery offers a total of 300 HP. The combined WLTP consumption stands at 0.7 litres/100 km and is reconfirmed at 5.8 litres/100 km with a flat battery, thanks to the efficiency of the combustion engine and the large capacity of the battery (WLTP approval pending). In addition to the Esprit Alpine setupwhich is also found on the E-Tech Hybrid 200 HP version, it is possible to opt for the Atelier Alpine versionwhich stands out from the rest of the range for the exclusive Satin Deepsky Blue colour, the Etoilé Black floating spoiler and the specific 21″ “Chicane” wheels with Continental tires (20″ wheels for the Esprit Alpine set-up). “The interiors of the Rafale E-Tech 4×4 300 HP Esprit Alpine and Atelier Alpine pay homage to Alpine with a carpet that covers the floor in the iconic blue of the Brand,” explain the Renault designers.
Rafale E-Tech 4×4 300 HP: performance
The performances are very respectable: the Renault Rafale E-Tech 4×4 300 HP it archives the 0-100 km/h in 6.4 seconds and covers 1,000 meters from a standstill in 26.9 seconds. Charging the 22 kWh battery with the 7.4 kWh on-board system takes 130 minutes (0-80%) and up to 3 hours to reach 100%
Rafale E-Tech 4×4 300 HP: intelligent active suspension
Rafale E-Tech 4×4 300 HP Atelier Alpine is distinguished from the Esprit Alpine version by the unprecedented intelligent active suspension combined with the camera positioned above the windscreen. This system, called Active Suspension with Predictive Camera, takes into account the speed and actions of the driver to constantly adapt the shock absorbers according to obstacles, such as bumps or deteriorated road surfaces.
Rafale E-Tech 4×4 300 HP: Agility Control
appears on the multimedia display the Chassis Control menu specific to Rafale Atelier Alpinewhich offers the driver the possibility of setting the parameters of the 4Control Advanced system, the shock absorber settings and the rear steering angles according to three modes: Comfort, ideal for daily travel, especially in the city; Dynamicfor the right compromise between agility and stability; Sportto favor handling and driving pleasure. Agility Control parameters are available with all driving modes (Eco, Comfort, Sport and Perso), except Snow.
Rafale E-Tech 4×4 300 HP: intelligent traction
With the new electric motor placed on the rear axle, Renault Rafale E-Tech 4×4 300 HP boasts an always active all-wheel drive system. Traction per axle is automatically managed by the E-Tech system based on driving conditions and the mode selected via the MULTI-SENSE settings. Torque distribution can instantly vary from 100% to the front wheels (front-wheel drive) to 100% to the rear wheels (rear-wheel drive). In general, front-wheel drive is preferable up to 70 km/h, while after that you switch to rear-wheel drive.
