To the TPI Fest 2024scheduled for the third consecutive year at Tettoia Nervi in Piazza Lucio Dalla in Bologna, it is time for the debate on Conversations about the Future by Domenico De Masi, or the book that the director of TPI Giulio Gambino wrote after a series of meetings with the Italian sociologist.
Speaking about the book, Gambino said on the stage of the TPI Fest: “We don’t want to remember Domenico De Masi in a sad way. He was a great man, the book I wrote with him was the result of a two-year dialogue that was initially aimless. When he sadly passed away, we said now is the time to publish it. It’s a very colloquial language, which was much appreciated”.
“Our meeting was born from a collaboration with our magazine. Little by little we became more and more friends and we found ourselves with our conversations laying the foundations for a book. Today, on the merits of his speeches, in the confusion of the new generations, reading a person like De Masi opens your eyes and makes you understand that there is no need to work so much and earn so little spending little time with your loved ones, there is an alternative”.
About the world of work, Alexander DiBatista he reiterated that the only way to guarantee dignity to workers is through universal income.
“Domenico De Masi had a unique ability to analyze any community,” said Cinzia Monteverdi, president and CEO of the publishing company Il Fatto Quotidiano, which published the book through Paper First. “Giulio Gambino’s book was a surprise because even those who didn’t know him could read it. It explains the greatness of this man and the distant vision he had of the world.”
