Maria Elisabetta Alberti Casellati during the lectio magistralis at the Luiss School of government
Reforms, Casellati: “Impact of the rules on under 35s will soon be an obligation”
A “mandatory preliminary analysis when exercising the government's legislative initiative” to evaluate the impact of laws on young people under 35 (the so-called Vig): this is what is about to become reality with the measures envisaged by a bill which has already received the first approval from the Council of Ministers and which is destined to obtain approval by April definitive green light by the ministers and then arrive in Parliament. The Minister for Reforms Maria Elisabetta reminds us of the “importance” of this new rule Toll booths during the Lectio Magistralis allat Luiss on the topics of the future and young people. Italy would thus be the third country to introduce it into its legal system after Austria and Germany. “In Italy – underlines Casellati – its introduction will constitute a real form of constitutional implementation: it is, in fact, a procedural mechanism for the protection of future generations, implementing articles 9 and 97 of the Constitution”. “It is an innovation of extraordinary importance for our country because, for the first time in the history of our democracy, it will give you young people the opportunity to direct public and economic strategies towards a sustainable future”, he concludes.
Reforms, Casellati: “The future of the nation is measured by orienting choices towards future generations”
“And the incessant flow of changes that this modernity brings with it to impose on us the need to lift our gaze from the present to stretch it as much as possible towards the future. In order for you young people to best face the challenges of tomorrow, it is necessary to act now, to interpret trends, hypothesize possible evolutions, direct energies, govern transformations”. Thus the Minister for Reforms and Regulatory Simplification Maria Elisabetta told the students Alberti Casellati during the lectio magistralis at the Luiss School of government. “I am convinced, in fact, that the progress of a nation is measured by its ability to implement long-term visions and strategies, orienting choices towards the next generations. This is the inspiring principle of the reform path that I have carried out in this first year and a half of government. There are two main objectives that I have set following this reform action – continues Casellati – to overcome the atavistic instability which in Italy prevents the planning of interventions in the medium-long term and to increase trust in the institutions, which in recent decades have too often been perceived as distant and disrespectful of the will and needs of citizens, and the younger ones in particular”.
