the recent lifeless appearance of 16 dolphins and a sea lion on the beaches of Angostura caused a stir in the community, as it generated an alert due to the number of bodies that came to the surface.
It was rumored that this mortality was the product of accidental fishing, since the presence of sardine boats had been detected in the area. However, the cause is still unknown.

In this regard, the head of the State Fisheries and Aquaculture Secretariat pointed out that at the moment experts on the subject speculate that it could be the ‘red tide’ the cause of this unfortunate event. This is an overgrowth of microalgae that live in the water and can be harmful for human consumption and therefore can also cause death of marine animals. However, she is awaiting the results of the investigation carried out by Profepa.
For his part, the general coordinator of the Sinaloa Environmentalist Alliance, Joel Retamoza, stated that it has been two decades since this type of environmental event has occurred and that Profepa does not do anything about it. “In that degree of ignorance we are in Sinaloa, there is no interest on the part of the authorities in following up on this type of problem,” he stressed.
He also recommended that the creatures should be buried, because if they remain in the open air they can cause infections and damage to the place.

On the other hand, in Angostura they plan to carry out an investigation to give the verdict of the deaths and act correctly in pursuit of the results. “We are very attentive and aware that the cause of these deaths could be any reason,” said the director of Ecology of Angostura, Abelino Angulo. Likewise, he specified that together with Mayor Miguel Ángel Angulo they will carry out a tour to verify the causes. “The investigation is already underway, we want to know the reality, if the death was not natural, we will do everything in our power to avoid this type of event in the future,” he declared.
