RB20 third evolution of the same concept
Since the first images filtered from the filming day held at Silverstone, the Red Bull RB20 has stolen the eye for the work carried out on the bonnet by the technicians of the Milton Keynes team who, to continue to evolve the aerodynamic concept underlying the 2022 RB18, have revised the cooling system. Pierre Waché at the beginning of the season he underlined that precisely on the occasion of the Silverstone filming day the sigh of relief came for the entire team that designed this innovation: the measurements of the sensors were in line with the findings of previous seasons and therefore the new arrangement of the radiators and the air vents were sufficient to dissipate the heat.
Interviewed by the newspaper racingnews365.com Adrian Newey explained that it is natural that the rear end of the Red Bull RB20 steals the eye, but that the gains guaranteed by this new configuration are not so noticeable: “There are some significant visual changes, especially regarding the radiators and the layout of the cooling system, which have brought advantages – explained Newey – it's one of those cases where it's a big visual change for what is, in reality, a minor performance change. Even the details of the fund, for example, have evolved, but no one notices it.”
The aesthetic novelty of the bonnet and the cooling system does not mean that the RB20 is a revolutionary car compared to the two sisters that preceded it with excellent results: “The basis of the car, the key architectural layout and suspension are extremely similar to the RB18. Like the RB19, the RB20 is also a new evolution of the RB18″.
